Deactivated 1874 Martini Enfield Artillery/Cavalry Carbine with regimental markings. Originally manufactured in 1874, it was converted in 1900 to chambered the new .303 round. They were used by the British in the First & Second Boer Wars,  Anglo-Zulu War in 1879 (Rorkes Drift) and the First World War. This early example still has its brass disc with the issuing regiment. (V.1.A B.A) We believe that it maybe the abbreviation for "Volunteer 1st Armoured Brigade. Africa. Definitely worthy of more research. A very historic piece. Comes with correct leather sling and bayonet with leather scabbard. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
