Product Information

This is a Zulu War era "Tabatiere" 10 Bore musket that was converted to a Snider breech-loading action. Originally a French military Model of 1857 percussion muzzle-loading musket, this particular conversion was carried out in Belgium. This occuered during the mid 1860s and early 1870s. The Snider action upgrade was a good way of utilising old muzzle-loading firearms. Many were marketed to Africa where it picked up the name "Zulu" shotgun. They were often traded or sold to native populations including the Zulu's, being used in many skirmishes with the English. An interesting piece of firearms history that is rarely seen in the UK. Deactivated with moving parts it comes with an EU/UK certificate of deactivation.
