Product Information

An original military issued 1898 dated MLE - Magazine Lee Enfield rifle manufactured by B.S.A. This example is regimentally marked to what we believe to be the 3rd Essex Battalion Volunteer regiment, weapon/rack number 759 ( V 3 Ex 759). This regiment was involved in the Boer War 1899 to 1902 and the First World War, gaining the battle of honour in South Africa. This lovely rifle still has it's original volley and diopter sights, magazine cut-off, original magazine with link chain and wood work. On the stock is the B.S.A. roundal with British broad arrow within. Above this is the original unit markings 7 over 1900, 7 being the regiment and 1900 the rack number. Below the roundal is the MKI stamp and below that the number 1 meaning first class rifle. That indicates it was to be issued to British soldiers only whilst in service with the regular army. Many MLEs saw extensive use during the First World War. Original deactivated to old specifications it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
