This is a Second World War issued Enfield manufactured Bren MKI dated 1941. The date stamps on the receiver indicate that this Bren was subject to at least two visits to the Enfield factory during the war for rework and/or upgrade. Originally issued in 1941 it has additional dates of 1944 ('44) and ('45). Clear evidence of this work can be seen on the trigger assemble. When the armorer replaced this part the guns serial number was applied on top of an exiting one. This Bren definitely saw wartime action and almost certainly during the Allied push into Europe after the D-Day landings in June 1944. A fantastic piece of British military history.
