This is a British WWII era manufactured Schermuly line thrower with aiming spirit level . The Schermuly design was highly successful for the throwing of lines from shore to ship, or ship to ship. The Schermuly system saved countless lives at sea and were used by the Royal Navy throughout WWII. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
