Product Information

This is a Browning model 1922 Yugoslavian military contract pistol. Marked with the Yugoslavian crest with words "Army State" on the slide. This pistol was supplied by FN to the newly formed Austrian Hungarian empire after it was dissolved in 1919 under the Treaty of Versaillies. This new state was known as the Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, and now better known as Yugoslavia. FN was approached to supply various arms, the model 1922 being one. Many were used by Yugoslavian partisans against the Nazi's . German forces also captured the 1922's. They designated it the P641(j), and reissued to secondary type forces, such as Bulgarians and italians. Interestingly this pistols serial number appears in the Anthony Vanderlinden book titled "The Belgium Browning Pistols" . This serial number was observed and recorded in the US. This leads us to believe that it may have been taken back home by a US soldier as a war trophy after WWII, and eventually returning to europe (UK) and being deactivated in the early 1990's. The pistol is in super condition with a crisp sharp blued finish. A very rare and well traveled pistol. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked and dry fired.
