This is one of the rarer SMLE's only being produced during the interwar period. Dated 1928, it was manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms. During the 1920s and 30s BSA made significantly smaller quantities of SMLE rifles in comparison to their wartime numbers. BSA records estimate they only made around 100,000 rifles throughout this entire period. At peak production during WWI BSA were producing 450,000 SMLE's a year! This example would have been put into service during WWII and has plenty of age related marks with serval armourers repairs to the woodwork.
