Early Production Colt 1911 Government Model. The serial number C46562 dates this pistol to 1916. The very first "C" coded 1911 rolled off the production line in 1912. Serial numbers started C1, this example being number 46,562th of 1916 when a total of 47,339 were made (1916 production was C27600 to C74999). Fitted with correct wooded chequered grips and magazine. These pistols were manufactured to a much higher standard than military issued examples. Often bought as a private purchase by soldiers. The FBI also used them. One of the most iconic sidearms of all time. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
