Product Information

This is a scarce French M1935A (Mle.1935) pistol. First adopted in 1937 production ended in 1950. Very few were made totalling just 84,950. The serial numbers were in blocks of 10,000, with a letter prefix preceding. This began with the letter A and carried through German occupation during WWII, continuing when the Allies recaptured the factory in October 1944. Once recaptured production was quickly resumed and continued until the end of war. This pistols letter prefix is G , that means its in the early 70,000 range of production numbers, dating it to late 1945 early 1946. Unlike most others, this example may have been issued to either the police or other para-military units, as it was given lanyard ring. Very few were made this way making this is a rare variant found within an already small quantity of pistols. The pistol still has its factory enameled finish, grips and magazine.

Post WWII many of these pistols were issued and used by French forces including paratrooper regiments in Indochina in the 1950s, the 2e Bataillon Etranger de Parachutiste, (2e BEP) in Hanoi, Vietnam and The Foreign Legion battalions made up primarily of Vietnamese volunteers in Algeria in the mid 1950s.
