Product Information

A very rare early production military issued Magazine Lee Metford (MLM) MKI* rifle, dated 1891. Manufactured by BSA & M.Co - Birmingham Small Arms & Metals Company. This rare rifle has to be one of the most complete and original MLMs available. It still retains many original features including the wood work, magazine cut-off plate, front vollley and rear dioptor sights and hard to find bolt cover. Plus the very rare correct single stack 8 round capacity magazine. The MKI* was only manufactured for a very short period and in relatively small quantities before the MKII was introduced 1892. This example is military marked with broad arrow and war department stamps. The left side of the stock band is marked with various dates and inspectors upgrade stamps (1897, 1904 and 1907). The brass disc reads  3. 1896. M . 5.LEIN .357  which is an abbreviation for;  March 1896, Militia, 5th Battalion Prince of Wales Leinster Regiment, weapon number 357, who served in the Second Anglo Boer War and First World War. Still in remarkable condition this is a very collectable piece of British history. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
