Product Information

This is a rare S.S.A. marked WWI SMLE MKIII* .303 rifle. Standard Small Arms (S.S.A.) was a company founded during the First World War. Its primary aim was to supply complete rifles, namely SMLE's to the British Government's War Department to supplement the output of Enfield , BSA and LSA. The company never achieved its goal of producing large numbers of rifles and only managed to make around 200,000 in total during WWI. A tiny amount in rifle terms, when over 17 million SMLE's have been made to date. The butt strap band was not stamped with a makers name just Crown GR with the year of manufacture and model. This lovely rifle has superb matched deep grained wood work, matching numbers to receiver, bolt and rear sights. These rifles being issued again for the second world war. A must have for the SMLE or WWI collector! Deactivated in 1992 to old specifications with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
