A rare WWI 1918 B.A.R. Browning Automatic Rifle. Manufactured by Marlin Rockwell Corporation dated September 1918 (9'18). This is one of only 16,000 ever made, note it reads Browning Machine Rifle and not Browning Automatic rifle. Although contracted to produce 131,000 BAR's Marlin only delivered 16,000 before the contract was cancelled. This example being one of those rifles. Marked with the correct US ordnance stamps and still fitted with its original barrel. Designed by the legendary firearms inventor John Browning. The B.A.R., as it more commonly referred to, was first introduced into military service in 1918 during the first world war, where it proved very effective and was issued to US, British and French forces. They were also used throughout WW2 and saw action in Vietnam. Deactivated in 1990 to old specifications with a full working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired. Comes fitted with correct sling and inert 30-06 rounds.
