This is a WWII Russian Mosin Nagant Carbine model M38 (model of 1938). This example was manufactured at the Izhevsk Arsenal in 1942. The M38 used extensively by the Red army during WWII. A similar example used by WWII Russian Sniper ace Vasili Zaytsev who was played by Jude Law during the opening scenes of "Enemy at the Gates" movie, when being taught to shoot as a young boy. During operation Bararossa, when Germany invaded Russia, large quantities of these carbines were captured and issued to German troops.
