Product Information

This is an ultra-rare Swiss military trails PO6/29 Luger chambered for 9x19mm Parabellum, made by government gunmaker Waffenfabrik Bern (W+F).

During the latter stages on the 1920s the Swiss Government started trials with their model 1906 Luger. From a tiny quantity of only 1600, a handful were selected for trials. This is one of those pistols.

As stated, just 1600 Lugers of this model were produced in 9x19mm, running from serial numbers P25001 to P26600, which were delivered between 1938 and 1944 to protect the neutral nation of Switzerland from Nazi invasion during WWII.

Unusually, this Luger's slide is from the Swiss model 1906/29, the frame is a model 1906 but converted to 9x19, with the correct 9x19mm magazine. It also features the 1943 "fat barrel". These features - along with a hard wearing painted finish on the frame - are indicative of the type used on trials pieces. It is clear from the wear marks made by the toggle, slide and frame that these parts have remained together since the trials. Once the trials were completed it would have been entered into military service.

Trials guns often contain variants and test hybrid pieces. Gun parts would be swapped and tested to see if they were interchangeable and compatible.

Due to the rarity of these pistols we believe this to be the only one of its type in the UK.

This incredibly rare pistol represents the last hard-fought, unfairly failed military development of the final and finest Luger variant. A true collectors piece.

Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked and dry fired.
