This is a Remington rolling block carbine/short rifle, model 1867. Remington produced this model from 1867 to 1888 supplying them to the US military and police as well as variation European contracts. The markings on this example indicate that it was in military service with Denmark. Remington delivered 30,000 rifles and 1,800 carbines in 1868 to the Danes and in 1868 Kronborg in Helsingør made a further 1,600 carbines.
