Product Information

A superb First World War issued British SMLE MKIII* .303 Rifle. The rifle is dated 1917 and was manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms. All visible numbers are matched including the wood work and barrel. The stock is stamped "B 310", this is most likely an abbreviation for the regiment it was issued, i.e. B company number 310.  The rear sight has been replaced and renumbered to the rifle. This work was carried out by an armorer at the Enfield factory. Note the EFD - Enfield stamps, and confirms that on its return from active service the sight had been damaged and required replacing. The bayonet is dated November 1917 (11'17) and was manufactured by Saunderson. It is regimentally marked and looks to be either "I E 247" or "1 F 247".  The canvas sling is also marked and dated but the markings are now very faint. The brass oil bottle was made by Enfield and is broad arrow marked. The clip contains 5 WWII dated British .303 rounds. A truly great set. The SMLE has been deactivated with a working action and can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
