Deactivated WWI SMLE Dated 1917

This is a First World War dated British SMLE MKIII* .303 rifle . It was manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms Co in 1917 and still retains the majority of its original matched parts, including the barrel, rear sight, nose cap and woodwork. The bolt is not matched but is the correct WWI type with rounded cocking piece. The brass disc has various over stamped numbers and letters, which is a clear indication that it has been issued and then re-issued. As with most WWI SMLE's this one would have seen service during both world wars.
