Product Information

A WWI dated SMLE MKIII. 303 rifle that was manufactured by BSA - Birmingham Small Arms in 1918. Interestingly this SMLE was originally intended as a MKIII* but was completed as a MKIII with a magazine cut-off. In general all MKIII* rifles did not have the magazine cut-off facility and because of this the * designation of this rifle was "struck through" at the factory. The re-numbered rear sight would also confirm that this rifle saw active service and required a replacement sight. Normal procedure was, once replaced the armorer would strike through any old existing numbers on the replacement part and then number it to the weapons serial number. A great looking SMLE that would have been in use again during WWII. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
