Deactivated WWI US Springfield M1903 with Accessories

This is a fabulous opportunity to own a WWI dated US Springfield M1903 MKI rifle with accessories. The date code on the barrel is 11-18 (November 1918). M1903 Mark I production began in the autumn of 1918 at serial number 1034502 and ended in mid-1920 at serial number 1197834, allowing for only a possible 163,332 rifles to have been made. This example is number 1042979 meaning that it is around rifle number 8,477th. The MKI differs from the far more common M1903 03-A3 models by virtue of a distinctive cut out in the receiver rail and flip-up adjustable rear sights. Included with this rifle is an equally rare original Springfield made, 1917 dated full length US M1905 bayonet with its even rarer early wooden type I scabbard. Five WWII dated spent .3006 rounds with clip, plus one complete round and a leather sling. A truly fabulous set.

The US entered WWI in April 1917 and the M1903 was their standard infantry rifle. During the inter war period many of the surviving First World War M1903s were re-barreled however, this one has remained untouched. The majority of these rifles saw active service again during WWII.
