This is a WWI dated Webley MKIII* flare pistol with regiment markings. Dated 1917, the pistol grip is marked with the initials " 1 L D 3", which we believe to be an abbreviation for the 1st London Regiment weapon number 3. There also appears to be the faint remnants of some previous markings under neath and just below these markings. The 1st London Regiment saw extensive service during the Great War.

Flare pistols are unaffected by the current deactivation specification changes and are permitted to have working actions and can still cocked and dry fired.
