This is a First World War dated SMLE MKIII* rifle. It was manufactured by London Small Arms (LSA) and is dated 1918. LSA manufactured SMLEs are much rarer than the Enfield or BSA examples. Due to limited factory space LSA could only produce small amounts during WWI. Their total production from 1907-1918 was only 430,000 rifles whereas Enfield & BSA were producing more than that a year from 1916-1918. This rifle also has markings on the barrel that indicate that it was re-issued for the Second World War. Deactivated to current specifications with moving parts.
