Product Information

This is a genuine WWII Lee Enfield No4T sniper rifle, dated 1944. It was manufactured by BSA Shirley; makers code M47C and has the correct  initials "TR" on the stock wrist, meaning telescopic rifle and T designation on the receiver. The letter S on the right side of the receiver signifies it was converted by Holland & Holland who were contracted to carry out the sniper conversions. In 1947 this rifle was Factory Through Repaired by ROF Fazakerly and marked "No4 MKI (F) FTR/47".  All visible numbers are matched including the magazine and bolt. The fact that this rifle required reworking indicates that it saw active service.

The Lee Enfield No4T was one of the most successful sniper rifles of WWII. A regiments sniper and his 4T were a very effective part of the British war machine during the war. They were able to report back on enemy positions and movements and could cause havoc among enemy ground troops, picking off soldiers from long distances. A skilled sniper could often interfere or even delay enemy advances. Relatively few No4t's were manufactured during wartime production, around 23,000 in total. This example is fitted with the correct  M1903 leather sling, No32 MKIII scope. The optics are not in working and will require refurbishment and / or a service.

A great looking rifle with lovely woodwork.
