Product Information

This is a WWII British Navy, Schermuly line thrower (No2 MK5) with matching numbers. It is broad stamped and has the dispersal code M601 was used during WW2 by I.L. Berridge & Co, who were a commercial knitting machine manufacturer. It also has a very low serial of 624. This model utilises the British No2 MK5 flare pistol that was also produced by Berridge. The Schermuly design was highly successful for the throwing of lines from shore to ship, or ship to ship. They were used by the Royal Navy throughout the war saving countless lives at sea. This example has its original grips, lanyard hoop and carry handle. The barrel is painted navy grey with tapered brass coupling piece. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired. This type of firearm is not affected by the current EU deactivation regulations.
