This is a Second World War British made No4 MK1 rifle. Just visble is the date stamp 1943 and in 1953 this No4 was FTR - Factory Through Repaired and upgraded to a MK1/2 at the ROF Fazakerley. The No4 was introduced in 1941 as a replacement for SMLE seeing active service with British and Common Wealth forces on all fronts until the war ended, continuing in service throughout the 1950s and 1960s afterwhich it was replaced by the legendary SLR L1A1. This example comes with an original wartime British made spike bayonet and scabbard, sling, inert .303 rounds with clip and Bakelite oil bottle and pull through cord.
