Product Information

If you are looking for a Second World War US Colt 1911A1 that has definitely been there and done it, then this is the one for you! The serial number dates to 1943 and falls within a batch that were only allocated to Remington Rand. Although the makers name has worn off the slide the FJA inspectors initials - Frank J. Atwood are only found on Remington Rand wartime produced pistols, confirming this to be a genuine WWII Remington Rand made 1911A1. The initials "R I A" stamped below the serial number are those of Rock Island Arsenal who were contracted to refurbish Colt 1911's after the war, indicating that this pistol saw active service and required reworking after returning to the US. The magazine is also wartime and is correctly marked with a letter on the letter S and CS for Scovill Mfg. Co. Many 1911s were put into service again during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. We can safely say that this one was almost certainly involved in one or more of those conflicts!
