A lovely untouched late Second World War Colt manufactured 1911A1. The serial is from the only batch of 1911A1's that Colt produced in 1945, totaling 119,450 pistols. The last serial number was 2368781. This example has all the correct markings including the US Property wording and GHD - Guy H. Drewry, the US inspector who's initials are only found on Colt made 1911s in the serial range from 845000 to 2360600. Often forgotten, although the war officially ended in September 1945, fighting continued for sometime afterwards with pockets of resistance from loyal Nazi German soldiers. Deactivated to old specifications with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
