A WWII "D-Day" era production Ithaca made Colt 1911A1 pistol. It has the correct makers wartime serial number, stamped on the frame "United States Property", and on the reverse with the correct inspection initials FJA (Frank J Atwood).  This pistol is one of only 73,000 or so made that year (1944). The 1911 was the standard issued sidearm of the US military throughout WWII. Chambering the mighty .45 round (the same as the Thompson SMG) it was feared by German troops. Deactivated working action and can be cocked and dry fired.
