This M1 Carbine was made by US firm Saginaw Steering Gear in late 1943 and is from a batch of 401,500 they produced between May 1943 to February 1944. The M1 Carbine was used extensively by US troops throughout the latter stages of WWII and was a very popular weapon being light, accurate and reliable. Original film footage from the Battle of the Bulge shows German soildiers armed with captured M1's.
