Product Information

This is a WWII M1 Carbine that was made by US firm Saginaw (SG) Steering Gear, General Motors Corp. The Saginaw SG M1 production was only 293,592 produced between May 1943 to April 1944. To makes matters more confusing Saginaw Grand Rapids also used a very similar name font on their receivers and serial numbers blocks. The only way to distinguish the two apart is as follows. All Saginaw Steering Gear, General Motors Corp. M1s are marked SAGINAW SG and Saginaw Grand Rapids are marked SAGINAW S'G' or IP.

The M1 Carbine was used extensively by US troops throughout the latter stages of WWII and was a very popular weapon being light, accurate and reliable. Original film footage from the Battle of the Bulge shows German soildiers armed with captured M1's.
