Deactivated WWII Maxim Machine gun with Sokolov Wheeled Carriage . Dated 1943 with matching numbers on almost every part of the gun . Invented by Hiram Maxim in 1883 , this was the first true heavy machine gun . It was capable of firing 500 rounds per minute . This one is equipped with a bullet defense shield and comes complete with correct ammunition box and belt . It is also fitted with a "snow hopper". The Russian realized that in freezing winter conditions there was no need to use water to cool the barrel , so instead they would fill it with snow . Deactivated with a working action , can be cocked , stripped and dry fired .
