Product Information

A great condition WWII Maxim model 1910 Machine gun with Sokolov wheeled carriage and bullet shield. Dated 1944 with matching numbers. Invented by Hiram Maxim in 1883, this was the first true heavy machine gun. The same design was adopted by the British on the Vickers. It was capable of firing 500 rounds per minute and was a formidable infantry weapon. This example comes with a whole host of accessories including ammunition box containing a 250 round belt with over 100 7.62mm inert rounds. Water can, tool pouch with various tools, oil bottles with transit box. The water jacket is fitted with a "snow hopper". The Russian realized that in freezing winter conditions there was no need to use water to cool the barrel, so instead they would fill it with snow. When snow wasn't available it was not uncommon for troops to urinate into the hopper to cool the barrel!!  This has to be one of the best sets of its type and would make an impressive centre piece. Deactivated with a working action, can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
