This model of Russian sniper rifle came to great notoriety in the film Enemy at the Gates, a WWII film about the Russian sniper ace Vassili Zaitsev, played by Jude Law. Zaitsev is credited with 242 kills in Stalingrad using this type of Nagant rifle. Russia, unlike most other military nations, also used women to carry out sniper duties, and had over 2000 during WW2.
