Deactivated WWII US Springfield M1903A3 Rifle

This is a WWII "D-Day" era Remington manufactured Springfield M1903A3 rifle. Remington were allocated two blocks of serial numbers of which 7 runs were produced. The serial number of this rifle is from block 2, serial run 4 and dates to May 1943. Remington ceased production of the M1903A3 in February 1944. The majority of these rifles were being made in preparation for the D-Day landing in June 1944. Around 28,365 rifles were converted into M1903A4 sniper rifles, and came to great notoriety when seen in hands of Private Daniel Jackson in the WWII epic "Saving Private Ryan".
