Product Information

This is a WWII British manufactured Lee Enfield No4 MKI. It is dated 1943 and was made by ROF Maltby. The stock has some very rare and seldom seen markings. The initials SOU 2 9 /58 and SOU/2  10/55 are those of the 18 Base Workshop REME (The Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) that was located at Bovington in Dorset. When the relevant work was completed the rifle was then dated, and is as follows; 10/55 is October 1955 and 9/58 September 1958. These markings would indicate that this rifle not only survived WWII but was also involved in several post war conflicts and required it to be reworked / repaired in the 1950s. The most famous conflicts from this period that involved the British army were the Korean War (1950-1953) and Suez Crisis (156-1957).
