A very early production WWI German DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) Luger Dated 1914 with matching numbers. It is also dated 1920. The serial number is 2689a . German serial numbers started 1 to 9999, then 1a to 9999a and so on. This means that this pistol is number 12,689th of 1914 from only the second batch that year. At the end of the first world war the Allied Commission created by the Treaty of Versailles banned Germany from having weapons longer than 100mm. All weapons that met with this new regulation were re dated and then re issued. Note the machined pistol grip, this is where the regiment markings were and have then been carefully removed when reworked in 1920. A very interesting and early Luger. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
