Product Information

This is a very intriguing WWII Walther P38. The AC40 code was only used by Walther in 1940. Very few AC 40 coded P38s were produced, around 20,000. This particular variant had the date stamped added below the AC stamp on the slide, with around 6,000 marked in this way. Walther were allocated Waffen acceptance stamp Eagle over 359, which can be found on most parts of this example. Another very interesting feature is the magazine. It is from the very rare 0 series P38s, the very first batch of P38s off the production line in 1939. The serial numbers feature a " 0 and + ".

This is where it gets even more intriguing! The serial number on the slide and barrel do not fall into the known ranges, and barrel has a very unusual fore sight assembly too. The barrel carries Waffen stamp Eagle over 88, as used by Spreewerke and date stamp of '45'. This maybe a late war prototype or last ditched barrel assembly and would appear to be unique.

From these markings and features this leads us to conclude that this is an early WWII Walther P38 that was most likely rebuilt either during the war or so after and is a one-off.

The overall condition is excellent with a luscious deep blued finish and unblemished Bakelite grip, both of which are Nazi marked and Walther coded. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked and dry fired.
