First World War Austrian Steyr Hahn M1912 automatic pistol, chambered in 9mm dated 1915 with matching numbers. 1915 Military / Government acceptance stamps, WN15 meaning Wiener-Neustadt 1915,  Habsburg eagle  .The serial number 88261i is from the very first batch of 1915 production and is around pistol number 6200th of that year. The gun was loaded from a stripper clip, as opposed to using a removable magazine. The barrel rotated on recoil to unlock, a design still used by several modern handguns. They were issued to the Austro-Hungarian army who fought along side German forces during WWI. Many being used during WWII as well. Only around 300,000 or so were ever made, many being lost to the horrendous condition during WWI. A classic WWI axis forces officers pistol. Some were also used during WWII by the Nazis. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
