Product Information

This is an extremely rare German Navy (Kriegsmarine) World War Two issued stainless steel double-barrel model SLD (Signal und Leuchtpistol) flare pistol. Produced from 1936 until 1940, only around 4,000 of these pistols were manufactured under the Walther banner with full date markings. During 1940 the coding was changed to "ac". The highest known serial number is in the 3900 range, this one being only number 920. From these very small batches less than half were fleet marked and then issued amongst the German Naval fleets, this included battleships and U-Boats. This example is marked to the North Sea Fleet N442 (the letter N = Nordsee). It also bears the correct Nazi Kriegsmarine inspection stamp Eagle over M III/3 only found on German Navy issued weapons. Incredibly it has its original Walnut grips and most importantly, the foregrip. The finish is in stainless steel to protect it from salt water corrosion. It is capable of single or dual barrel firing and has a lever for barrel section or simultaneous firing with each barrel fitted with a loading indicator. As with all Walther made weapons the quality is superb with matching numbers. An extremely rare original and complete Nazi flare pistol of which less than a handful know survive in the world today, the vast majority being lost at sea during WWII hostilities. Deactivated with a working action, safety and barrel sector lever it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
