This is an extremely rare Nazi Police issued Mauser (byf) P38 pistol. It is one of only 3800 ordered in 1944, a tiny amount when you consider over 1.2million were made. These pistols were marked with a Nazi eagle and the letter L to distinguish them from the military issued pistols. Also note the Eagle over N commercial proof stamp by the serial number and on the barrel, again only used on these pistols. These pistols were issued to various branches of the Nazi police regime including the infamous Gestapo. The pistol is all matching numbers with correct wartime magazine and is in superb condition. An extremely rare pistol of which very few now exist. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
