Product Information

A very interesting German Gew98/Kar98 rifle. Originally built by Mauser in 1917 it would have been issued and used during the Great War (1914-1918). Post WWI during the rearmament build up and during the Second World War the Nazi made use of their stocks of these fully serviceable Gewehr 98 rifles. Once modified and shortened into Kar98s, large quantities were assigned to the Waffen SS. Often over looked, the SS generally received most of the non-standard, captured or reworked weapons. General issue weapons, such as Lugers, P38s, K98s, MG34, MP40s etc were usually allocated to frontline troops and divisions. This carbine has WWII Nazi marked K98 wood work, barrel bands and bolt. The barrel, rear sight, floor plate and receiver are all WW1. Many of these modified carbines were also used by the Volksstrum (Peoples Militia) or Germany's version of the British Home Guard. Hitler's last ditch war effort, arming the people to defend Germany against Allied forces, as they advanced towards Berlin. Deactivated to old specifications in 1990 it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
