This is a scarce commercial PO8 Luger, chambered in 7.65mm with all visible numbers matching. In the aftermath of WWI German arms factories were permitted to produce firearms for commercial sales and markets. Using existing guns and parts and newly made parts, DWM assembled these Lugers to generate income for its business. These Lugers have far fewer numbered parts and bear Crown over N proof stamps. In comparison to wartime production, commercial Luger numbers were very low and relative short lived, with many so called "commercial" Lugers being secretly issued to military personnel during Germans secret rearmament build up, and once Hitler came to power over 95% of all production was for the military. This, 7.65mm variant with a 3 inch barrel was only produced from 1920 to 1923 with only a few thousand ever made. It still retains its original finish and grips, and polished parts. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked and dry fired.
