Product Information

This is a rare late war Nazi MG42 machine gun. The makers initials "NC" were only used by Maget, and the "swd" coding was only used in 1945. The gun carries the correct Nazi acceptance stamp that was allocated by Maget; Eagle over WaA11. The serial number 1822o is also correct and falls within the known serial number range used that year; 1211n to 8093p. Maget are estimated to have only made around 30,000 that year before the factory ceased production. In 1945 most other makers of the MG42 had virtually ceased production due to Allied bombing or capture, or lack of parts and materials. Folke Myrvang collectors grade book, "MG34-MG42 German Universal Machines" estimate that around 47,000 were made by all manufactures in 1945, making them among the rarest as so few were produced. The additional marking "BH" are those of the Bundes Heer or Austrian Army. In the aftermath of WWII and under Allied supervision, Austria was permitted to re-arm and self govern. Utilising the huge quantities of captured Nazi weaponry, the Allies gave the Austrian military various firearms including MG42's. A rare WWII German classic magazine gun.
