Product Information

This is a rare WWI German Gewehr 98 Rifle that has been factory converted to Kar98 Carbine. These conversions were done in house using existing rifles and parts. Germany had a surplus of fully serviceable Gewehr 98 rifles. Utilising these strong and reliable rifle actions made perfect sense. Barrels were shortened, wood work was modified and the newer Kar98 parts added, such as rear sight assembly, barrel bands and sight hood etc. They were issued to frontline and SS units during WWII.  This example is dated 1917 and was originally manufactured by Amberg. Almost all numbers are matching, including bolt and magazine feed plate. There are also a few Nazi marked parts. It has a very unusual safety lever fitted to the bolt. A very interesting piece. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
