This is beleived to be Turkish Mauser carbine conversion. These rifles were converted by the Turks using German first world war Gew98s. This exampe has a WWI Gew98 bolt fitted. Turkish forces sided with the Central Powers during WWI with the Gallipoli campaign of 1915-16 being the most famous of their campaigns. In WWII Turkey eventually sided with Allied forces in early 1945. An unusual and interesting little carbine. Deactivated to current specifications with moving bolt and trigger.
