Product Information

This is a very rare early production Enfield SMLE MKIII dated 1913. In 1913 Enfield only manufactured 30,000 MKIIIs, one of the smallest amounts of its entire production of this model. From this very small quantity of rifles most went to war in 1914. Very few would have returned and for that reason they are exceptionally rare and sought after. This lucky survivor was later reissued and assigned to the AS OTC. Alleyn School, Officer Training Corps which was based in Dulwich, London and trained officers during the 1930s and WWII. The initials EY signify that this rifle was to be used in emergency only with the sold out of service (broad arrows facing each other) below. Finally it bears the initials DP, meaning Drill Purpose. This stamp was added when a rifle was retired from active duties and used for training and drills. A superb looking rifle with lots of history and its magazine cut-off plate and WWI bolt. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
