Product Information

A First World War dated military issued and regimentally marked Austrian Rast & Gasser Model 1898 revolver, chambered in 8mm. These beautifully engineered revolvers were first produced in 1898 with production ending in 1918. Around 200,000 were manufactured in total. They were used predominantly by the Austro-Hungarian armies during WWI and also saw extensive service with Axis forces during WWII. However, this example differs from most and bears the initials "ML" as well as the Wn.16 Austrian military acceptance stamps. It is believed that this mark indicates that the barrels & cylinders were made by Manufacture Liegeoise d'Armes who were a subcontractor to Gasser during WWI. During this period Manufacture Liegeoise d'Armes (ML) was under German control. This rare marking is only found on 1916, 17, 18 dated Gasser revolvers. It is also reginmentally marked to the 92nd Regiment of the Austrian army "92R". Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked and dry fired. It is partially strippable with removable side plate.
