A very early 1942 production Mauser K98. Coded "byf 42", this K98 is from the very first batch produced that year. The serial number 1839 caries no letter suffix and puts at around number 1630th off the production line. The receiver is correctly stamped with Waffenamt stamp 655 & 135. This would indicate that the receiver was manufactured in late 1941 and final assembled in early 1942. It still retains many original matched parts including both upper and lower wood work. Of considerable interest, the hand written numbers on the wood work was done by German POW's who the Nord's utilsed as labourers during the post war reworking of their captured German K98s. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
