Product Information

A WWII dated Finnish captured, Russian Mosin Nagant Infantry Rifle, Model M/91 with early "Hex" receiver. In 1939 Russia attempted to reclaim territory lost during the Russian Civil War in 1917 when Finland declared independence from Russia.  Russian forces were ill-prepared for the freezing conditions and aggressive defense by Finnish forces and were defeated in 1940. This conflict is known as the "Winter War" . The Fin's captured various weapons, including M/91 rifles, these newly captured weapons were arsenal reworked and then marked with the Finnish army property stamp SA within a box, meaning Suomen Armeija. They have distinctive features and markings all of which are only seen on Finnish captured Nagant rifles. This example is dated 1940, the first year that V.K.T. starting reworking the M91. Its also a very early example with a very low serial number of 0360, and all visible numbers are matched. It comes fitted with a cleaning rod and original leather sling straps. During WWII Finland sided and fort along side Nazi Germany. A very interesting piece of wartime history. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
