This is a 1944 dated Mauser "byf" coded K98 - Kreigsmodell. A very impressive looking example with the correct Waffen code WaA135 on receiver and barrel. Produced towards the end of the war these K98s were issued to all branches of the Nazi regime including the Volkstrum - peoples militia, as Allied forces closed in. The "Kreigsmodell" features far less numbered parts and simplified components to reduce production times.
