Product Information

This is a 1936 dated Carcano M1891 Cavalry Carbine or Moschetto Modello 91 da Cavalleria. During WWII and after declaring war on the Allied forces, Italian arms manufactures started assembling existing stocks of the M1891 and issuing to Italian units. This leight weight carbine has an integral folding bayonet that was ideally suited for cavalry and ground units alike. Note this example still has its original adjustable front sights. The initials RE (Regia Esercito) are those of the Italian army, and the Italian manufacturer name is Terni arsenal. In May 1939, Italy and Germany signed the "Pact of Steel" joining both countries in a military alliance. Then, in 1940 Italy entered the war with Mussolini declaring war on Britain and France. During the war both Italian and German troops used these rifles.
